DLA Piper Africa has been named African Network of the Year at the 2016 African Legal Awards. The ceremony was held at the Wanderers Club in Johannesburg and was hosted by Legal Week in conjunction with the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa (CCASA).

In addition, a DLA Piper Africa team comprising lawyers from Nairobi and London picked up the award for Transportation and Infrastructure Team of the Year for their work helping to deliver one of the largest sustainable healthcare projects in Africa.

The African Legal Awards set out to recognise exceptional achievement in the African legal community at a time when the legal sector is facing rapid change. The award for Africa Network of the Year called for firms to demonstrate "significant progress over the past 12-18 months" on the continent. Comprising 15 African member firms, covering Francophone, Lusophone and Anglophone Africa, DLA Piper Africa was able to show outstanding collaboration across sectors and jurisdictions between the leading firms which comprise DLA Piper Africa.
